They Shall Not Grow Old 3D Movie Review
Written By: Jake Jarvis
The 3D in They Shall Not Grow Old is truly spectacular. This is one of the best 3D conversions that I have ever seen. They movie starts in black and white 2D and it transforms into colorized 3D before your eyes. It looks fantastic to see the before and after. The converted video and 3D breathes new life into the 100 plus year old footage. The 3D helps you feel like you are watching living and breathing people, who are very relatable to our lives today. The 3D depth presented in this documentary is phenomenal. The 3D further helps to make this historical footage come alive and is highly recommended.
Final Verdict: Great 3D
They Shall Not Grow Old is a World War I documentary directed by Peter Jackson. Peter Jackson made this documentary for the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day. This documentary is created with care from many different sources. They used silent era black and white footage shot by camera operators carrying hand cranked wooden cameras into battle. They used audio interviews from the BBC. The BBC actually recorded several interviews with vets from World War I in the 1960s and 1970s. Peter Jackson then edited it all together and renovated it with cutting edge technology. The end result is one very compelling narrative about the doughboys fighting on the Eastern Front. This is a graphic and real portrayal of World War I. So please be mindful of that aspect before watching this documentary. You don’t have to be a war or history buff to enjoy this excellent documentary. This documentary is perfectly crafted and is something that will be appreciated for years to come.
Peter Jackson has created something truly amazing with this documentary. This is easily one of the best documentaries ever made about World War I. This is a must watch!
Final Verdict: 10/10
