3D

Sadly low-key is the best way to describe the 3D visuals for this movie. The 3D is largely forgettable for the vast majority of the movie. The character of ‘Elastic Girl’ has some notable scenes with good pop-out 3D, but it feels muted. Objects only slightly pop out of the screen when they could easily pop-out more. 3D depth is used in a few fun scenes with portals and long hallways. I did enjoy the 3D visuals in a few scenes, but they are few and far between. The movie has many darkly lit scenes and scenes with a strobe visual effect that can disrupt the 3D aspect for the viewer. Perplexedly the end credits show off some of the best use of 3D. The credits themselves look very nice and are stylized for 3D. Some of the animated scenes in the credits also use 3D layering in fun ways. Nobody cares about having nice looking 3D end credits so this is moot point. The 3D in this movie isn’t bad but it is underutilized and left me wanting more.

Final Verdict:

Weak 3D 2D Recommended

Movie

People have been wanting a sequel to “The Incredibles” for over a decade so can this movie really deliver after such a long wait? Sadly “Incredibles 2” is totally dependent on the original and in many ways serves as the 4th, 5th and 6th acts for the original movie. If you haven’t seen the first movie you will be lost by this movie. It some ways this movie is a rehash of the original but also serves as a continuation of the original, but it never really feels like it’s own thing.

“The Incredibles” originally ended on a cheeky cliffhanger and this second movie starts immediately where the first movie concludes. A new villain called the “Screenslaver” is terrorizing the city and Elastic Girl is on the mission to stop him. You follow Elastic Girl for the majority of this movie. The several action scenes in this movie are well choreographed and are fun to watch. You also get a secondary plot with the father Mr. Incredible staying at home and taking care of the household. Many sequels will reference their predecessors but in many ways this movie feels like a carbon copy of the original . Many aspects of the plot directly echo events from the predecessor and it feels repetitive and unimaginative. Overall the plot feels lazy, uninspired and is largely predictable. The comedic events of the movie work well. The movie is well written and is enjoyable but ultimately it feels unnecessary. Pacing is also an issue with the movie and it can drag and become slow and boring. Many times the plot can become overly generic, cliche and simplistic. The movie expands the roster of super heroes, but it does very little with them. The new Superheroes are simply a way to advance the plot and don’t have any real depth. The movie feels rushed and is sloppy with many plot holes. The movie also has no real stakes and the plot ultimately feels meaningless.

The movie fails to deliver a compelling narrative. The movie doesn’t dramatically advance the characters or scenario in any meaningful ways. The movie is fun but is largely a frivolous forgettable affair. “Incredibles 2” lacks the charm, magic, and originality of its predecessor. There is nothing incredible about “Incredibles 2”, sadly this movie is not amazing, or spectacular, or fantastic, or super or even marvelous , it is mediocre.

Final Verdict: 6/10

Solo a Star Wars Story 3D Movie Review

Solo A Star Wars Story

3D Movie Review

3D

Sadly the 3D element of this movie is pathetic and worthless. The movie doesn’t do much of anything with pop out 3D. Depth based 3D is essentially a non-factor too. The 3D does give the viewer some separation between the characters in 3D, as some characters appear closer or farther away from each other. That being said, who cares? One action scene in space toward the end of the movie did look decent in 3D. Overall the 3D visuals for this movie aren’t worthwhile and are totally forgettable.

Final Verdict: Weak 3D 2D Recommended

Movie

Han Solo is an iconic ‘Star Wars’ character and is one of the most liked characters in all of cinema. Han Solo is a loveable cocky scoundrel that always finds a way to survive even in the most impossible of odds. This movie follows Han Solo on his space adventures as he discovers new friends and foes and pursues his dream of being an intergalactic pilot.

In the original ‘Star Wars’ movie trilogy the great Harrison Ford portrayed Han Solo. Alden Enrereich brings this new younger version of Han Solo to life. This Han Solo is a charming, funny cunning and is enjoyable to watch on screen. Alden does a fantastic job in this role. Donald Glover is also a stand out as a younger Lando Calrissian. Glover is just a joy to watch and stole every scene with his endless charisma. The movie has many fun new characters including a sassy robot named L3, and a likeable mercenary named Beckett. Dydren Vos is the main antagonist of this movie and I hated this character. This villain is a generic evil mobster character is cheesy and over the top. I hated every scene that he was in. Many of the characters are superfluous and only serve to further the plot. Overall I do like all the characters within this movie with the exception of the villain, which is fairly one-dimensional.

The movie is a smaller scale stand-alone ‘Star Wars’ adventure. This movie takes place a few years before the events of the forth episode (New Hope) in the ‘Star Wars’ saga. The movie is a fairly strait forward adventure tale with many twists and turns. I found the movie to be fairly predictable and simplistic. The movie does have problems with pacing and it has many plot holes. The movie jumps from scene to scene and doesn’t do much to build the characters. At times the plot is too contrived and convenient and leaves the viewer with more questions than answers.  I didn’t like the ending to this movie, which felt tacked-on and is sloppily put together. The action scenes are well done and the comedic element of the movie works well. The movie has its problems but I still enjoyed myself.

Overall “Solo” is a fun lighthearted adventure that I can recommend. I liked the movie but I didn’t love it and in many ways the movie left me feeling lukewarm.

Final Verdict: 7/10

Avengers Infinity War 3D Movie Review

Avengers Infinity War 3D Movie Review

Written By: Adolph Vega

3D

Simply put “Avengers Infinity War” looks fabulous in 3D. I watched this movie in IMAX 3D and I was blown away. The 3D in this movie looks incredibly crisp and bright. This movie was made for 3D. Dozens of scenes use pop out 3D in fun ways. Several scenes use 3D depth for a greater sense of scale. The 3D in this movie is not perfect and has some minor issues. A few scenes are darkly lit, and 3D and darker scenes don’t work well together.  These scenes are few and far between so it doesn’t sour this overall excellent 3D presentation . The 3D usage is especially fascinating in the final scenes of the movie. I can’t really discuss this without massive spoilers, but needless to say I was both stunned and impressed. The 3D element of  “Avengers Infinity War” doesn’t feel like an after thought. The 3D and the story elements of “Avengers Infinity War” go hand in hand for an unforgettable cinematic 3D experience. I applaud the brilliant use of 3D visuals within this film . I don’t want to see this movie in 2D. I strongly suggest experiencing this movie in IMAX 3D. This movie was shot entirely with digital IMAX cameras so watching this in a IMAX theater is ideal. Overall this is a MUST WATCH IN 3D movie, and I shall give it my highest recommendation.

Final Verdict: Great 3D , Editors Choice 3D Award

Movie

“Avengers Infinity War” is the amazing capstone of nearly 10 years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I walked into the movie theater with the highest expectations, and I left the movie theater stunned and shook to my core. Wow this movie is epic. I was worried that no movie could manage such a huge cast, and this movie feels perfectly balanced and gives everyone meaningful screen time and lines. Thanos is the villain of this movie and he is perfectly executed by Josh Brolin. The motivations for Thanos are clearly presented and his arguments are both interesting and well conceived. Thanos is a strong villain because of his abilities and for his presence on screen. Thanos is the greatest Marvel Cinematic Universe villain. This movie has it all. This movie has an excellent comedic element. The movie has heart and many touching performances and scenes. The movie knows when to slow down and have excellent character scenes. The  movie has amazing action set pieces that are truly epic. The action choreography is simply incredible. The superb fight scenes are second to none and are breathtaking and exciting to watch. This movie is extremely entertaining and is a pure delight. This movie is truly something special and Marvel has done it again. This movie not only lives up to the hype, but it exceeds it. The stakes are extremely high in this movie and I loved the many bold choices that were made in this movie. That being said the movie leaves the audience with many obvious questions and unresolved issues. It doesn’t bother me because I feel like they completed the story that was presented. I want to see this movie again and again. It left me wanting more and I am confident that future Marvel movies will deal with the aftermath from this movie.  The movie does an excellent job of being semi self contained and building upon the previous Marvel movies. Ultimately this movie feels both satisfying and earned and is the perfect accumulation of the entire Marvel Cinematic movie Universe. I laughed, I cried, I cheered, and I was thoroughly entertained from beginning to end as I watched “Avengers Infinity War” . This movie is the best Marvel movie within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and boldly pushes the franchise forward in interesting and compelling ways. I could not have asked for or wanted a better movie than “Avengers Infinity war”. This is one of the most amazing movies that I have seen in years; in fact this might be one of my favorite movies of all time. “Avengers Infinity War” is the most ambitious movie of all time and it completely succeeds in every regard. “Avengers Infinity War” might be the greatest & most entertaining movie of all time. With the highest praise that I can possibly give, I must give this movie a perfect score. “Avengers Infinity War” is one the greatest achievements in the history of cinema, and I applaud Disney for making such a marvelous movie.
