3D

Wow is the best word to describe the mind blowing 3D conversion of Shang-Chi. The half a dozen fight scenes look spectacular with many pop outs and great depth. The bus sequence is jaw droopingly beautiful in 3D. The bamboo maze is stunning to see in 3D. The skyscraper action scene in the scaffolding has incredible depth. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is a must see in 3D. If you watch this movie in 2D you might loose half of your potential enjoyment of this movie.

Final Verdict:

Great 3D - Editors Choice

Movie

Shang-Chi is one the best hollywood martial arts movies since Enter the Dragon.

I love the excellent cast in this movie. Simu Liu who is best known for his role in the 2016 sitcom Kim's Convenience portrays Shang-Chi. Awkwafina is Katy, the humorous female friend and is sorta the side kick of Shang-Chi. Awkwafina's performance is really good, and it is great seeing her kick ass and be worthy of joining in on the action. Michelle Yeoh is almost wasted this movie as she is given a very small role as Ying Nan. The role of Ying Nan is small, but she makes this small part interesting. Tony Leung portrays Xu Wenwu, the heart and soul of this movie. His tragic arc moves the story forward and gives this film its bite between the fight scenes. The film has a lot of great cameos and small roles from the previous Marvel films. The entire cast is top notch and they work together to build a fantastic narrative.

Shang-Chi is a new exciting corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The fights in Shang-Chi are top notch. Shang Chi is one of the last movies choreographed by the great Brad Allen. Sadly Brad Allen passed away in August of 2021. The martial arts action pops off the screen both visually because of the excellent 3D visuals, and because of the excellent fight choreography.

The story of Shang-Chi is pretty interesting. Shang-Chi is living in modern day San Fransisco and he decides to return to china to investigate a mysterious letter that he received. In china Shang-Chi discovers his mystical heritage. Many of the important scenes are subtitled and take place in flash backs. I loved the story in this film and I don’t want to spoil anything by providing any further details. Please remember to stick around after the film ends for one mid credits and one post credits scene. Both scenes are interesting and set things up for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This movie both feels like the tried and true Marvel formula and is something new and different.

Shang-Chi delivers in both action and intriguing story. Don’t miss this movie!

Final Verdict: 10/10
