No Time to Die 007 3D Movie Review

The 3D in No Time To Die looks fabulous, but it is also flawed. Inconsistent is the best word to describe the 3D visuals of the latest James Bond movie No Time to Die. Maybe the 3D was rushed because some scenes really take advantage of the 3-D and other scenes are fairly flat. Some scenes are shoot with shaky cam and are in darkly lit locations so that was a minor issue with the 3D too. All that being said when the 3D is present I really loved it. The 3D is used in smart ways and is mostly depth based. You will get some pop outs but they are few and far between. It’s not a spoiler to say that James Bond movies typically start with a barrel of a gun aiming toward Bond and Bond shoots it. In this movie that barrel looks fantastic in 3D. It really gave you the real sense that you were in the gun aiming at bond. James Bond movies are also known to include a musical video for the titular song attached to the movie. In this movie the musical video (sung by the incredible Billie Eilish) looked amazing in 3D as many objects were moving around in the different layers of 3D. The movie has many long passageways and the 3D really helps give the illusion of depth. The 3D comes and goes in the movie. One scene would look wonderful in 3D with multiple layers of 3D and the next scene would have very limited 3D visuals. To my knowing this is the first James Bond movie released theatrically in 3D, and overall I really enjoyed the 3D aspect of this movie. The excellent 3D moments definitely outweighed the mediocre 3D moments. 3D fans will be very happy watching No Time To Die in 3-D.

Daniel Craig is back as James Bond. It’s been six long years (feels much longer) since the last James Bond movie (Spectre) released. For me the Daniel Craig Bond movies have been hit or miss, so is this movie a hit or a miss?
No Time To Die begins as James Bond is retired from MI6 and is living the good life with Madeleine Swann (From Spectre). As you might expect James Bond is pulled back into the spy business and isn't able to enjoy his retirement. A deadly virus has become weaponized and it has escaped a lab. The world is in peril as a mysterious villain threatens the world with a global pandemic. This isn’t a recap of 2020, it’s the plot of the newest James Bond movie. This is only a small taste of the plot of this movie. Don’t worry this movie has many fun twists and turns in this fun spy movie. I was gripped by the story from beginning to end.
Daniel Craig really excels in this movie, and he delivers in his final performance as James Bond. The chemistry that Daniel Craig (James Bond) has with Léa Seydoux (Madeleine) is fantastic. It really shows on screen and it cements this movie with an emotional core. This movie is both a sequel to its predecessor (Spectre), and is its own adventure. I suggest you watch a recap of the previous Bond movie Spectre before watching this movie because many events from that movie are referenced in this movie. In fact this might be the only major flaw in this movie. This movie is dependent on the events of the mediocre Spectre movie. If you don’t remember that movie you might be a little lost in this movie. I was not a big fan of Spectre so I wish that this movie was more of a stand alone film. Essentially all of the characters from the previous movies (that are still alive) return in this movie and they work well together. The character of Nomi (Lashana Lynch) is the only character that I didn’t love. I felt like the screen writers shoehorned her into this movie. I liked her performance but they always seemed to always find ways to write her off screen. Overall the character interactions are superb and No Time to Die has a fantastic cast.
In many ways No Time to Die is a love letter to James Bond fans. It has all the Bond tropes : awesome action, cool gadgets, beautiful women, and an over the top villain. It panders to the audience and does it in style. The movie is long but it flows well. No Time To Die is both an entertaining and is a well-crafted movie. The movie is so much fun that I was both sad and giddy when the credits rolled. Daniel Craig ends his run as James Bond with a fantastic film. I truly loved my time watching No Time To Die. Daniel Craig is the best James Bond and No Time To Die is simply the best James Bond Movie.
