Is Cruella a 3D Movie ?

The last few Disney live action fairytale remakes have been released in 3D (Maleficent 1& 2, The Jungle Book, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast). That being said the trailer doesn’t specifically mention 3D. The official website and the movie poster don’t mention 3D either. Not all Disney live action movies have been released in 3D (Mary Poppins Returns, Christopher Robin, and Tomorrow Land). This is why we give this a low probability of 3D release.

An epic adventure about a headstrong girl longing for a place to belong who discovers a kindred spirit when her life intersects with a wild horse, Spirit Untamed is the next chapter in the beloved story from DreamWorks Animation.

Lucky Prescott (Isabela Merced, Dora and the Lost City of Gold) never really knew her late mother, Milagro Navarro (Eiza González, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw), a fearless horse-riding stunt performer from Miradero, a small town on the edge of the wide-open frontier.

Like her mother, Lucky isn’t exactly a fan of rules and restrictions, which has caused her Aunt Cora (Academy Award® winner Julianne Moore) no small amount of worry. Lucky has grown up in an East Coast city under Cora’s watchful eye, but when Lucky presses her own luck with one too many risky escapades, Cora picks up stakes and moves them both back with Lucky’s father, Jim (Oscar® nominee Jake Gyllenhaal), in Miradero.

Lucky is decidedly unimpressed with the sleepy little town. She has a change of heart when she meets Spirit, a wild Mustang who shares her independent streak, and befriends two local horseback riders, Abigail Stone (Mckenna Grace, Captain Marvel) and Pru Granger (Marsai Martin, Little). Pru’s father, stable owner Al Granger (Emmy winner Andre Braugher, Fox’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine), is the best friend of Lucky’s father.

When a heartless horse wrangler (Emmy nominee Walton Goggins, FX’s Justified) and his team plan to capture Spirit and his herd and auction them off to a life of captivity and hard labor, Lucky enlists her new friends and bravely embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to rescue the horse who has given her freedom and a sense of purpose, and has helped Lucky discover a connection to her mother’s legacy and to her Mexican heritage that she never expected.

Spirit Untamed is the next chapter in DreamWorks Animation’s beloved franchise that began with the 2002 Oscar-nominated film Spirit: Stallion of Cimarron and includes an Emmy-winning TV series. The screenplay is by Aury Wallington (Netflix and DreamWorks Animation Television’s Spirit Riding Free) and Kristin Hahn (Dumplin’). The film is directed by Elaine Bogan (Netflix and DreamWorks Animation Television’s Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia) and is produced by Karen Foster (co-producer, How to Train Your Dragon). The film’s co-director is Ennio Torresan (head of story, The Boss Baby), and the film’s score is by composer Amie Doherty (Amazon’s Undone, DreamWorks Animation’s Marooned).


Is Spirit Untamed a 3D Movie ?

3D Confidence Rating - 🟦 High Probability

Dreamworks has a fantastic 3D track record with their animated movies. The last few major  animated movies (How To Train Your Dragon The Hidden World , The Croods New Age, Boss Baby)  were released in 3D. The trailer, official website, and poster not mentioning the 3D aspect of this movie. We still think that this movie has a high probability of releasing in 3D.

In the United States no Furious movie has released in 3D. The last Furious movie : Hobbs and Shaw was scheduled to release in 3D in the United States, but the 3D was pulled at the last moment. One interesting thing to note is that within the ‘stereo’ section of dneg.com it mentions F9. Dneg.com does many 3D movie conversions. So maybe F9 will get a 3D release but the probability is low.

Before the covid-19 pandemic we saw trailers for Black Widow in 3D. Every Marvel movie released in the last 10 years has been released in 3D. We have no reasons to doubt that Black Widow will release in 3D.

Warner Bros has a great track record of releasing its family movies in 3D. Sadly 3D is not mentioned in the trailer, poster or the official website. For all those reasons we believe that Space Jam: A New legacy has a medium chance of releasing in 3D.

All of the previous Hotel Transylvania movies have been released in 3D. 3D is not mentioned in the trailer, poster or the official website. Sony has a fantastic track record when releasing animated movies in 3D. We think this has a high probability of releasing in 3D.

Paramount has a great track record of releasing its movies in 3D. This is exactly the type of movie to be released in 3D. Overall we think Snake Eyes has a high probably of releasing in 3D.

Is The Suicide Squad (2021) a 3D movie ?

3D Confidence Rating - 🔶 Low Probability

R-rated comic book movies have a poor track record of releasing in 3D (Dredd). The director James Gunn seems to like 3D and has used it in the two Guardians of the Galaxy movies. 3D is not mentioned in the trailer, poster or the official website. The probabilities for a 3D release of The Suicide Squad (2021) does’t look good. In fact they look so bad that a petition has already been created to release this in 3D via Change.com.

This one is interesting. 3D is not mentioned in the trailer, poster or the official website. All that being said we have one trump card that gives us hope. Joe Hägg the 3D Producer/ Supervisor for Twentieth Century Fox has Free Guy in this current title on Linked In. Does this mean that Free Guy is a 3D movie ? Overall the possibility of this movie being released in 3D is low but there is a chance.

The Paw Patrol franchise is geared toward little kids. Usually animated kids movies are released in 3D but when the movies are targeted for toddlers the 3D usually gets jettisoned. This movie probably has the lowest possibility of releasing in 3D of all the other summer 2021 movies.
